How To Apply Gel Polish

Looking for a manicure that lasts longer than nail polish but you’re not yet ready to switch to dip powder? Or do you want a long-lasting high-shine finish pedicure that matches your favorite dip power? If you answered yes to either of the questions above, then our gel polish is perfect for you! For those of you that don’t know - gel polish is polish that requires a UV or LED lamp to dry or “cure.” There are many benefits of gel polish including instant dry time, high-gloss shine, and the fact that it can last up to three weeks. It is also an easy way to add nail art to your nails and can be used on top of dip powder!

How to apply gel polish:

Step 1: As with anything else, the first step is to prep the nail Sanitize your hands and push back cuticles. Using a fine drill bit or 150 grit file, you’re also going to want to remove the shine from your nails.

Step 2: Shape your nails to the desired shape with a 180 grit file.

Step 3: Using a lint free wipe, clean the nail with alcohol.

Step 4: Apply a thin layer of Revel Nail Gel Base from cuticle to free edge, capping the tip. Using a LED light cure 30 seconds or use a UV light to cure for 1 minute. (We recommend a 36-48 watt UV or LED lamp).

Step 5: Using gel polish color of choice, apply a thin layer from cuticle to free edge. Be sure to cap the tips of the nail to ensure complete coverage. Cure 60 seconds with a LED light or 2 minutes with a UV Light.

Repeat step 5 again. Each nail should have 2 layers of gel polish. (Pro Tip* – some colors may need a third layer to give a complete full coverage).

Step 6: Apply a thin layer of Revel Nail Tack Free Gel from cuticle to free edge. Remember to cap the tips. Cure for 60 seconds with a LED light or 2 minutes with an UV Light.

Step 7: Apply Revel Nail Cuticle oil to the skin surrounding the nail to have a complete, nourished, and calcium enriched gel polish manicure!

In 2-3 weeks when you want to change your gel polish color, simply file off the gel topcoat making sure that there is no shine. Then use the spa method or foil removal method to remove the gel polish fully.
