What are the Benefits of Dip Powder?

You’ve probably seen some people on Instagram showing off their Dip Powder Manicure – (if not, check out us @revelnail and see more cool ones like this) or you’ve seen some of the new powders at your salon, but you aren’t quite sure what they are.

Don’t you hate when you get a gel manicure and it chips right away? Or you use regular nail polish on your nails and it chips and peels off immediately? Or maybe your nails get soft after wearing gel polish too many times, or you worry about sticking your hand in a UV light. Dip Powder is here to help you solve all those problems. It’s stronger than gel, lasts like acrylics, doesn’t need a light, and won’t ruin your nails. It’s the nail REVELution you’ve been waiting for.

Benefits of Dip Powder

The two types of manicures women get most often in a salon are gel polish or acrylic manicures. Gel Polish can last a few weeks (if you’re lucky) and is pretty easy to remove – plus it comes in nice colors. But it needs a light to cure, and it has some harsh chemicals in it that can leave your nail beds soft. On the other hand, if you do acrylics, they will almost never crack or break, but the chemicals smell terrible when they are being applied, and removing them is very tough on your nails.

Most women who do their own nails at home are doing nail polish, which is easy to use, doesn’t damage your nails, and is easy to remove. However, it doesn’t last long. I’m sure you’ve had a night were you did your nails to go out and it didn’t even make it through the whole night without chipping – it’s happened to all of us.

Dip Powder is the best of both worlds – it will last like an acrylic, but removes easily like a gel polish, but doesn’t need a light to cure and won't weaken your nails when you wear it. Many women get 3, 4 or even 5 weeks of wear from Dip Powder and redo their dip powder manicure more because of the growth in their nail than any other reason.

How do you get started?

Dip Powder is easy to apply – if you do your own nail polish then you can do it yourself. The cost of a Starter Kit from Revel Nail is a little bit more than the cost of one trip to the salon, but will get you over 20+ manicures, so it’s up to you. You can click here to check out a Starter Kit that allows you to pick your own color from 280 + colors, or you can check out this 4 Color Starter Kit with everything you need to start dipping!

To apply you'll need to prep the nails by removing cuticles and buffing the surface. You'll use our step 1, Pro Base on the nail and dip into the powder. We recommend at least two dips per nail. Then you will use our step 2 Activator to harden the powder. After it dries, you can shape and smooth your nails with a buffing block. Then you'll apply step 2 Activator again to each nail. Then two coats of step 3 Finish Gel to seal your manicure, and you're done! They're dry and ready for action in about 60 seconds! See our video below for detailed, step by step instructions.

The best part is that it’s all risk free – at Revel Nail we offer a 100% money back guarantee, no questions asked. Don’t like Dip Powder? Get your money back. Don’t like the color you picked? Get your money back. The only thing you have to lose is chipped nail polish and trips to the nail salon.

What color options are there?

There is pretty much every color under the sun out there – Revel Nail sells over 280 different colors. Some of them are even color changing – they change color in cool/hot temperatures or if they are exposed to sunlight. Revel Nail was the first to introduce Mood and Sun colors years ago. We've got glitter and shimmer colors if you're looking for some sparkle!

How do you remove it?

Great question, and luckily for you its very easy. You can remove Dip Powder with acetone. Simply use a file to break the seal on your Dip Powder Manicure – you’ll want to remove the shine so the acetone can soak into your manicure to remove it. Once you have filed off the shine you can apply acetone, usually a foil wrap is the easiest way to hold an acetone soaked cotton ball onto your nail. Then, let it sit for 7-10 minutes. The Dip Powder should wipe off easily at this point. If it doesn’t, don’t peel it or file it. Just let it sit a little longer till it comes off.

It really won’t chip?

Nope, it won’t. When applied properly you’ll cap the edges, sealing in the powder and keeping it strong for weeks.

Why haven't I heard of this before?

Dip Powder is still relatively new in the grand scheme of things. At Revel Nail we’ve been making and selling it since 2015, but it started mainly in the South and is spreading throughout the US. It’s hitting Europe as well, and Australia has one of the largest Dip Powder Markets in the world.

Who is Revel Nail?

We manufacture Dip Powder here in the US in Blackwood, NJ. We are one of the pioneers of Dip Powder, and were one the first companies to sell it on the Internet. Don’t believe us? Check out the Internet Archive from 2015. The site wasn’t pretty, but it had Dip Powder for sale on it! How things change!

Where can I go to learn more?
